A4 engine removal – driveshaft unbolted (day 19)
The driveshaft is unbolted, but the front bolts are tough and need a helper

The flex pipe was on its last legs... no matter, I'm going to 3 inch exhaust
Draining brake fluid and coolant, then the front carrier came off. Mmmm... organic!
Approaching the point of no return... the A4 bumper cover is off
Getting the compression tool back out of the 1.8T took two hours
I hoped close enough was close enough. It wasn't. Then I read the instructions
Dry fitting the XSPower turbos showed the stock banjo bolts are too short
The new turbo touches the manifold, so I need to check that it is clocked right
New bits from XSPower arrived, so my old engine gets some shiny new parts
Not much wrenching today, just an hour of sorting parts and ordering
Six hours and one cheat to free the passenger turbo. Don't try this at home
Getting the timing belt back on was much more of a chore than expected
A $20 set of test spacers to see if B8 wheels will clear my B6 fenders
The passenger side was worse off, with an oil channel blocked solid by crud
A 30 minute gasket job took 90 minutes and a couple sets of hands
Not terribly exciting, but the driver side valve cover is off
