Chat with people you don't know, but are close by.

Trepia™ is an interesting twist on chat clients.  Instead of having a buddy list of friends, Trepia™ searches for buddies based on proximity.  People in your buddy list won't be friends you already know, they will be the people logged in who are physically closest to you.

Here's how Trepia™ describes their technology:

Trepia™ performs a Progressive Proximity search for nearby people using known geographical information about the networks you use. It searches from the inside out, first adding people local to you, then branching out to others.

Sounds cool, right?  All I want to know is: how do they plan to make money?

(Thanks Steve for the pointer to the cool software.)

Virtual bubble wrap

Sure, it doesn't sound quite like bubble wrap, but it's still satisfying.  http://www.social-stuff.com/bubblewrap.swf

Yo!
With some talent and the right camera work even geeks look cool.

Sure, perhaps the Yo-Yo hasn't been cool since the '50s but there are still some people into it... and some have mad skilz (see, use the right lingo and it's cool again).  For some dope Yo-Yo action check out this video: http://www.hugi.is/hahradi/bigboxes.php?box_id=51208&f_id=901.  The video isn't short, but sit still for a little and you'll see some pretty fancy handwork.

The video was filmed at the Japanese National Yo-Yo competition 2003.  If you want more Yo-Yo info, here's a good launch site.

The Beauty in CSS Design

I've known for a while that CSS is a powerful tool for keeping a flexible design for my web site but I had no freakin' idea how powerful it can be!  If you would like to get a taste of the future you must go visit the CSS Zen Garden.

The first time I visited the Zen Garden page all I could say was day-UM! (with a capital UM).  I had absolutely no idea you could get that crazy with CSS.  I am way way WAY behind the times when it comes to CSS.  Well, looks like I need to find a good CSS book… any suggestions?

K9 Water is for the dogs

The world continues to get wierder.  Evidence:  The K9 Water Company.

The K9 water company sells bottled water for your dog, marketed the way the dog would like it.  K9 water is exactly what you know your dog likes to drink, the four varieties: Gutter Water, Toilet Water, Puddle Water and Hose Water.  No, they don't actually take toilet water a bottle it, they take regular water and flavor it like beef, chicken, liver and lamb.

Toilet water tastes like chicken?  That explains a lot.

Go get your pooch a 12 pack at http://www.k9waterco.com/

I’m really tired.  I don’t know what is slowing me down.  Perhaps geeking out a little bit will help get my brain going.
